What is the difference between semi electric beds and full electric
hospital beds?
The main difference is that full electric hospital beds are motorized
to go up and down and semi electric beds have a crank to raise the bed.
Electric functions to raise and lower the bed are needed to help caregivers
with taking care of the patient and also for assistance with getting in and
out of bed. Many patients will raise the bed up to get to their feet and
lower the bed to make sure they can sit down in bed comfortably.

Does Medicare cover the cost of buying a full electric hospital bed?
Normally Medicare provides a semi electric bed to medical patients
that need a hospital bed. patients that need full electric hospital beds
for medical reasons normally need a prescription from a doctor to
get it covered by various types of insurance. How much each insurance
company will cover and what they will cover will range from each

What is the Size of a Hospital Bed?
The sleeping surface is 36 inches wide and 80 inches long. A twin
sized xl bed is 38 inches wide so it is very close to a twin sized bed.
Some hospital bed models will have a longer size of up to 88 inches
long for taller patients  and require a custom mattress to conform
to this size. The Stryker Epic 2 and Hill Rom CareAssist and
Versacare hospital beds have an extension option.

Hospital beds wider than the 36 inch standard sleeping surface
are referred to as “bariatric hospital beds” and they will normally
come in 38″, 42″, 48″ and some as wide as 52 inches.

What is the Difference Between a “Med-Surg” Bed and ICU Hospital Bed?
A “med-surg” bed is another name for a full electric hospital bed with a
foam mattress and an “ICU” bed or Intensive Care Hospital Bed is a bed with
a built in air mattress system and normally a scale. “ICU” beds are designed to
prevent bed sores and the advantage is that these beds have an air system built
into the frame of the bed and thus the mattress is made to conform with the
movements of the bed.  Some “med-surg” beds are converted to ICU by
putting a “replacement air mattress” on the bed and hanging a bed pump off
the bottom foot board.

of renting a bed for 3 months. Anytime after that you are are
